Robert Longyear is VP of Digital Health and Innovation at Avenu & Wanderly. He is the author of "Innovating for Wellness", a book that explores the intersection of health policy and health technology innovation. He has another book (Routledge, Taylor & Francis Group) release date set for 2021.
Robert has worked across the healthcare industry for a number of organizations including Medicaid Health Plans of America, Wellcare Health Plans, the Institute for Medicaid Innovation, and was Director of Product at a mobile health technology company.
He has contributed to several major research studies and has spoken at conferences and events to discuss innovation and research in healthcare. His most recent research publication is the first to look at social determinants of health data collection on state Medicaid enrollment forms.
Early in his career, his mom's chronic myeloid leukemia spiraled out of control and led to 6 months of navigating the flawed healthcare system. Eight years as a family caregiver across the healthcare continuum informs his work every day.
He studied Healthcare Management and Policy at Georgetown University where he completed his thesis on innovative payment and care delivery system reform efforts in state Medicaid programs.
